Welcome to this first-of-a-kind motorcycle skills competition and safety seminar located in the Chicagoland area. This is a unique event presented by Midwest Police Motorcycle Training of Illinois. Moreover, this event is also primarily sponsored by Midwest Police Motorcycle Training of Michigan as well as NYC Metro Motor Skills. For additional sponsors see our sponsor page.
This unique event brings both Civilians and Police Motor Officers together within the same event. Our event focuses on motorcycle safety as well as enhancing motor-vehicle operations. All donations from this event benefit the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation which supports and assists families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.
In this event, we are fostering motorcycle safety and also bringing the police and civilian communities closer together. One of our goals is to better learn how to make the motorcycle itself work to its maximum potential. If you are wondering how general motorcycle competitions are ran, than click here for a discussion on the types of exercise events that will be seen in our competition (aka, what is a motorcycle Skills competition?).
Both motor officers as well as Civilian participants will be able to learn from top instructors present at the event on both the safety of operating their motorcycle, as well as continue to develop open lines of communications between participants, while having some spirited competition. However, it has been shown that the improved aptitude from competitions directly correlates to improved ability in real-life situations, such as being faced with an emergency riding incident while operating your motorcycle.
In 2009, Midwest Police Motorcycle Training sponsored NYC Metro Motor Skills, which presented the first-ever combined police and civilian event in the United States within NYC which was a huge success. All donations benefited the NYPD/FDNY Widow's and Children's Fund. In 2010, this Police/Civilian integrated event is being presented in both Chicago as well as NYC.
In 2010, the Chicagoland event was held in Joliet, Illinois in early August. The event was a huge success; there were just under 50 competitors as well as several hundred spectators in attendance. The police participation in the event included Departments such as Joliet, Will County Sheriff, McHenry County Sheriff, McHenry Conservation, Rockford Park District, Evanston, and Cicero. Furthermore, the civilian competitors who attended had spanned coming from 10 different states as well as coming from Ontario, Canada too.
About Us
Midwest Police Motorcycle Training is focused on motorcycle safety and enhanced motor-vehicle operations. We focus on training both Police Motorcycle Officers as well as civilians. Moreover, we are collaborating and working with NYC Metro Motor Skills to jointly expand advanced motorcycle training to a wider group of riders in the NYC areas (as well as other groups too). We are focused on both theoretical as well as practical information on motorcycle safety. We focus on developing forums to develop motorcycle safety skills.
Our competition courses are designed to challenge all levels of riders with a format designed to increase and improve a rider’s skill. Our police level competition courses will challenge even the best motor officer riders, while our intermediate and novice level classes will challenge the seasoned civilian riders. All competition courses are designed to replicate real-life events and obstacles that a motorcyclist may be faced with while riding.
Our event is focused on :
- Developing and enhancing motorcycle riding ability and confidence
- Improve a rider’s situational awareness, multi-tasking and task-focusing
- Improve a rider’s ability to deal with stress
- Provide exposure to new riding technique
All donations for the event will benefit the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. There have been over 538 Chicago Police Officers who have sacrificed their lives for our city.
